What is PressWork?
PressWork is a free, open-source theme framework built for WordPress 3.2 using HTML5 and CSS3. It was created out of a need for a framework that catered to all types of users. As developers, we needed it to be powerful enough to allow for complete customization, which is why every element in PressWork can be hooked into. But we also didn’t want to scare away beginners and that’s why we came up with the PressWork front-end toolbox, which gives users the ability to change their site’s layout and design in a live preview environment while taking advantage of all the bells and whistles that WordPress already has to offer.
The Future is Now!
HTML5 introduces a number of new features and attributes that reflect typical usage on modern websites. As a designer you’ll have a whole new bag of tricks to play with. As a developer you’ll be able to streamline and simplify your code to prepare your WordPress site for the future.
HTML5 makes everything a little bit more straightforward, and that is what PressWork is all about. No need for extraneous code when you can strip it down to the bone and still have it working the way it should. And we throw in some CSS3 to keep things looking their best.
We Love WordPress!
That’s why PressWork is FREE! We believe in the open-source community as well as maintaining current web standards. We practice what we preach in all our work. It’s about giving complete control over the tools needed to create an interactive, engaging, accessible, and intuitive experience for every community. To us, open source is more than just code, it’s a way of life.
If you’ve got mad skills when it comes to WordPress and you want to join the PressWork community, find us on and contribute. Together we can make PressWork the ultimate WordPress framework.
