PressWork.me has been part of the WordPress ecosystem since 2011. It began as the home of PressWork, one of the first open-source drag-and-drop theme frameworks for WordPress — built by Chris Bavota and Brendan Sera-Shriar, presented at WordCamp Montreal, and covered by SitePoint, WP Tavern, and the WordPress press of that era.
The original framework was retired years ago, but its story shaped how visual editing in WordPress evolved. Some of the original project’s articles are still preserved here.
Today, PressWork is an independent publication about building websites with WordPress: honest comparisons of themes and page builders, practical tutorials, and straight talk about the business of making websites.
Who’s behind it
PressWork is edited by Franck J, a Paris-based web entrepreneur who has been building websites since 1999 and using WordPress since 2006.
After a decade as a project manager, Franck went full-time into websites and domains: since 2012 he has built, grown, and sold dozens of content sites, and he has worked alongside well-known operators in the website flipping space. He also runs Templatery, a template studio for solopreneurs, and DomainAnalyzer.com, a set of free domain research tools.
That background is the editorial filter here: every recommendation on this site comes from someone who has actually built, migrated, broken, and fixed WordPress sites for over two decades — not from a content mill.
