AIOSEO Review: A Good Setup Wizard, a Slower Plugin and a Price That Doubles

Verdict: All in One SEO (AIOSEO) is a solid plugin with a guided setup wizard, but it costs more and loads slower than its rivals. The free version covers the basics. Redirects, local SEO, WooCommerce SEO and internal-link suggestions all need a paid plan, from $99 a year after a half-price first year.

Key takeaways

  • Free covers titles, descriptions, sitemaps, schema, llms.txt and IndexNow. Redirects, local SEO and WooCommerce SEO need a paid plan.
  • Paid plans renew at double the first-year price: $99 a year for 1 site, up to $599 for 100.
  • It added 103 ms to each visitor page, the slowest of the four big SEO plugins (Accelera).

Read other AIOSEO reviews with care. AIOSEO is made by Awesome Motive, as MonsterInsights’ own AIOSEO review states. MonsterInsights and PushEngage, which both rank on Google’s first page for “aioseo review”, link their careers page to the same company, and so do SeedProd and aioseo.com. WordPress.org lists Syed Balkhi as AIOSEO’s author and as a contributor to the MonsterInsights and SeedProd plugins. This review uses public data only. For the record, this site runs Rank Math, and we have no affiliate deal with any SEO plugin.

What you get for free

The plugin’s own FAQ lists the free essentials: SEO titles and meta descriptions, an XML sitemap, schema markup, Google Search Console integration and TruSEO content analysis. In the free code we also found:

  • a guided setup wizard that asks about your site and fills in the settings
  • an llms.txt file for AI search tools, and IndexNow for faster indexing on Bing
  • breadcrumbs, a robots.txt editor and canonical URLs
  • a one-click option to delete all its data when you uninstall, which Yoast, Rank Math and SEOPress don’t offer in their settings
  • importers for Yoast, Rank Math and SEOPress

What needs a paid plan

According to the same FAQ, the redirection manager, local SEO, keyword rank tracking, automatic internal linking and WooCommerce SEO all need AIOSEO Pro. The free plugin’s code confirms it: there is no redirect module in it.

AIOSEO free covers titles, descriptions, schema, XML sitemap, breadcrumbs, TruSEO, llms.txt, IndexNow and a delete-all-data option; paid plans from 99 dollars a year add redirects, 404 monitor, local SEO, WooCommerce SEO, Link Assistant and a rank tracker
From AIOSEO's own FAQ, checked against the free plugin's code.

One thing to watch: the “Full feature list” on the free plugin’s WordPress.org page lists the Redirection Manager, Local SEO, Link Assistant, Keyword Rank Tracker and WooCommerce SEO next to the free features, without marking them as paid. Install it expecting redirects and you’ll find an upgrade prompt instead. Rank Math gives redirects and a 404 monitor away for free.

Price: cheap in year one, full price after

aioseo.com pricing page, 30 September 2026, before taxes. Its FAQ confirms Basic renews at $99 a year.
AIOSEO yearly price, renewal vs first year: Basic 99 vs 49.50 dollars, Plus 199 vs 99.50, Pro 399 vs 199.50, Elite 599 vs 299.50
Every plan renews at double the first-year price.

Compare the renewal price, not the first-year offer. For one site, Yoast SEO Premium costs €118.80 a year, and SEOPress PRO $49 a year at the same price every year. For unlimited sites, SEOPress PRO costs $149 a year. Rank Math PRO costs €8.99 a month, billed yearly, for every site you own.

Speed: the slowest of the big four

The plugin’s FAQ answers “Will AIOSEO slow down my website?” with “No”. An independent test disagrees. Accelera timed six SEO plugins on a clean WordPress install (full test; published July 2024 with AIOSEO 4.6.7.1, updated September 2026):

Execution timeAIOSEOYoastRank MathSEOPress

Source: Accelera. Lower is better.
Front-end execution time: All in One SEO 103 ms, Yoast 71 ms, Rank Math 69 ms, SEOPress 63 ms
AIOSEO was the slowest of the four full-featured plugins.

AIOSEO added about 45% more processing time to each visitor page than Yoast, and 63% more than SEOPress. On fast hosting you won’t feel it. On cheap shared hosting, with other plugins, it adds up.

Who uses it?

On 29 September 2026 we scanned the homepages of the top 10,000 sites in the Tranco ranking. Of 716 WordPress sites, 323 showed Yoast, 74 Rank Math and 19 AIOSEO. None of the top 1,000 sites ran it. Users we checked by hand include SmartRecruiters, Ecwid and WPBeginner, which shares AIOSEO’s founder. You can check any site with our plugin detector.

Switching to and from AIOSEO

  • From Yoast: AIOSEO’s importer copies Yoast’s settings and each post’s title, description, focus keyphrases, canonical, robots settings, social fields and schema type. Yoast Premium’s redirects are not part of it.
  • To Yoast or Rank Math: both have an AIOSEO importer. Yoast’s brings over its settings and every post’s SEO data.
  • Leaving for good: turn on the uninstall option first, and AIOSEO removes its data when you delete it.

We checked these importers in the code of AIOSEO 5.0.2 and Yoast 28.6. Details are in our Yoast vs All in One SEO comparison.

Pros and cons

  • Pro: a guided setup wizard
  • Pro: llms.txt, IndexNow and a clean uninstall in the free version
  • Pro: plans for 3, 10 and 100 sites
  • Con: the slowest of the four big SEO plugins in Accelera’s test
  • Con: redirects, local SEO and WooCommerce SEO are paid, and the free listing doesn’t make that clear
  • Con: renewal at double the first-year price
  • Con: many reviews come from companies tied to the same owner

Should you use AIOSEO?

  • Yes, if you want the setup done for you and you’re happy with the free features.
  • Maybe, if you run 3 to 100 sites on a paid plan. Compare its renewal price with SEOPress PRO at $149 for unlimited sites.
  • No, if you need free redirects or local SEO. Rank Math includes redirects for free.
  • No, if speed matters most. See the best SEO plugins for WordPress for faster options.

What to do next

  1. Need redirects on a free plugin? Pick Rank Math, or add the free Redirection plugin.
  2. Buying AIOSEO: budget for the renewal price, not the first-year offer.
  3. Already on AIOSEO and happy: stay, and turn on the uninstall data option now in case you leave later.
  4. Switching away: Yoast and Rank Math both import AIOSEO data. Check 5 pages after the import.

FAQ

Is AIOSEO free?

Yes. The free version covers SEO titles and meta descriptions, an XML sitemap, schema markup, Google Search Console integration, TruSEO content analysis, llms.txt and IndexNow. Paid plans start at $99 a year for one site, with the first year at $49.50.

Does AIOSEO free include redirects?

Who owns AIOSEO?

Awesome Motive. WordPress.org lists Syed Balkhi as the author, and MonsterInsights’ own AIOSEO review says the plugin is built at Awesome Motive, the company behind WPBeginner.

Is AIOSEO better than Yoast?

On setup and price for several sites, it can be. On speed and writing guidance, Yoast is better: AIOSEO added 103 ms to each visitor page against 71 ms for Yoast in Accelera’s test. Big sites also run Yoast 17 times as often.

How much does AIOSEO cost after the first year?

Double the first-year price: Basic renews at $99 a year (1 site), Plus at $199 (3 sites), Pro at $399 (10 sites) and Elite at $599 (100 sites), before taxes.
