SEOPress Review: The Best-Value SEO Plugin, With One Catch

Verdict: SEOPress is the best-value paid SEO plugin for WordPress. PRO costs $49 a year for one site or $149 for unlimited sites, and it renews at the same price. It also loads faster for visitors than Yoast, Rank Math and All in One SEO. The catch: its free version holds back the redirect manager, 404 monitor, schema editor and breadcrumbs, and few big sites run it.

Key takeaways

  • SEOPress PRO costs $49 a year for 1 site or $149 for unlimited sites, and renews at the same price.
  • The free version lacks the redirect manager, 404 monitor, schema editor and breadcrumbs.
  • It added 63 ms per visitor page, the lightest of the four full-featured plugins (Accelera).

Every number below comes from a public source: WordPress.org, seopress.org, the plugin’s own code, an independent speed test and our scan of the top 10,000 websites. For the record, this site runs Rank Math, and we have no affiliate deal with SEOPress or any other SEO plugin.

What you get for free

The free version on WordPress.org covers everything a small site needs:

  • titles, meta descriptions, canonical URLs and robots settings, with Google and social previews
  • content analysis with unlimited target keywords (Yoast allows one for free, Rank Math five)
  • XML sitemaps, including images, plus an HTML sitemap
  • a redirect field on each post or page
  • an llms.txt file for AI search tools
  • IndexNow and the Google Indexing API for faster indexing
  • Google Analytics 4, Matomo and Microsoft Clarity built in
  • one-click migration from 12 other SEO plugins, including Yoast, Rank Math and All in One SEO

What needs PRO

Several features that Rank Math gives away are PRO-only here:

  • the redirect manager (bulk, regex, CSV import) and 404 monitoring
  • the schema editor: Article, FAQ, Product, LocalBusiness, Recipe, Event and more
  • breadcrumbs
  • Local SEO and WooCommerce SEO
  • a broken link checker, site audit and Google Search Console data in the post list
  • AI-generated titles, descriptions and alt text, with OpenAI, Gemini, Claude, Mistral or DeepSeek

PRO also lets you remove SEOPress branding from the admin (white label), which matters for agencies handing sites to clients. All of this comes from the plugin’s own readme for version 10.2.

SEOPress free includes unlimited keywords, per-post redirects, sitemaps, llms.txt, IndexNow and migration from 12 plugins; PRO from 49 dollars a year adds the redirect manager, 404 monitor, schema editor, breadcrumbs, local and WooCommerce SEO, site audit and white label
From the plugin's own readme, version 10.2.

For agencies, SEOPress is the cheapest by a wide margin.

For an agency, the gap is large. Unlimited client sites cost $149 a year on SEOPress. All in One SEO charges $599 for 100 sites, and Yoast charges per site. SEOPress also sells AI credits separately, from $19 a month.

Speed: lighter than the big three

Accelera timed six SEO plugins on a clean WordPress install (full test; published July 2024 with SEOPress 8.0, updated September 2026):

Front-end execution time: SEOPress 63 ms, Rank Math 69 ms, Yoast 71 ms, All in One SEO 103 ms
SEOPress was the lightest of the four full-featured plugins for visitors.

SEOPress was the lightest of the four full-featured plugins on the front end and in the dashboard, and it loaded the least JavaScript by a wide margin. Only The SEO Framework and Slim SEO were faster, and they do less.

Who uses it?

Few big sites. On 29 September 2026 we scanned the homepages of the top 10,000 sites in the Tranco ranking. Of 716 WordPress sites, 323 showed Yoast, 74 Rank Math and 19 All in One SEO. Only one visibly ran SEOPress: the University of Illinois, reachable at both uiuc.edu and illinois.edu.

That doesn’t make SEOPress worse. It reflects a smaller user base, and a smaller user base means fewer tutorials and fewer people who already know the plugin. Check what any site runs with our plugin detector.

Switching to and from SEOPress

  • Moving in is easy. SEOPress imports from 12 plugins. From Yoast it copies each post’s title, description, focus keywords, canonical, robots settings, social fields and breadcrumb title.
  • Moving to Rank Math or All in One SEO is easy. Rank Math imports SEOPress settings, post and term data, and redirects. All in One SEO imports its settings, titles, post data, social tags, sitemap, breadcrumbs and robots.txt.
  • Moving to Yoast is not. Yoast 28.6 has no SEOPress importer. Its “SEOPressor” importer is for a different, unrelated plugin.

We checked all four importers in each plugin’s current code. One more detail: uninstalling SEOPress leaves its data in your database unless you add the SEOPRESS_UNINSTALL constant to wp-config.php first.

SEOPress vs Rank Math

They’re the closest rivals. On the free versions, Rank Math wins: it includes the redirect manager, 404 monitor, schema types and breadcrumbs that SEOPress keeps for PRO. On paid plans, SEOPress wins for agencies: $149 a year covers unlimited client sites, while Rank Math’s client plans start at €27.99 a month. SEOPress is also slightly lighter. For your own sites only, Rank Math PRO at €8.99 a month covers them all too, so the two are close.

Pros and cons

  • Pro: cheapest Pro plan, with unlimited sites for $149 and no renewal increase
  • Pro: light on the front end and in the admin
  • Pro: unlimited keywords, llms.txt and IndexNow in the free version
  • Pro: white label for agencies
  • Con: redirect manager, 404 monitor, schema editor and breadcrumbs are PRO-only
  • Con: small user base, so fewer tutorials and almost no big sites to learn from
  • Con: no way back to Yoast through an importer

Should you use SEOPress?

  • Yes, if you’ll pay for a Pro plan, especially for client sites. Nothing else covers unlimited sites for $149 a year.
  • Yes, if speed matters and you still want a full-featured plugin.
  • No, if you’ll stay on a free plugin. Rank Math’s free version does more. See Rank Math vs Yoast.
  • No, if your team needs the plugin everyone knows. That’s Yoast.

What to do next

  1. Staying on a free plugin: pick Rank Math instead.
  2. Paying for client sites: SEOPress PRO unlimited is the cheapest option.
  3. Moving to SEOPress: use its one-click migration, then check 5 pages.
  4. Before uninstalling SEOPress later: add the SEOPRESS_UNINSTALL constant if you want its data removed.
